At Vintage Tripod Lamps, the style of lamp we are most known for is our standard bulb-and-shade style, which is beautiful for lighting a room. But what if you want to focus the light for, say, reading? It's a bit more complicated, but we recently adapted that style for a client's bar and library.
We don't just ship all over the United States, we also take custom projects in the local San Francisco Bay Area. This one took place in the Monterey Bay, just a couple hours south of the city.
For this project, we selected a darker style, as we thought it would be better in the room's setting. We ended up selecting a very old, pre-1930 tripod originally made for mounting telescopes. We outfitted it with rubber feet to avoid any potential damage on the client's wooden floor.
We removed the tripod mounting hardware on the top, and strung the wiring for upper lamp parts through the resulting hole.
The top hardware was salvaged, repainted, and repaired before mounting on the tripod.
What resulted was exactly the classy looking reading light the client wanted. The rustic look of the legs matched beautifully with the refinished lamp head and into the room seamlessly.
We loved this challenge, which included building a new modern plug and retrofitting the mounting hardware for the lamp head, but we hope you agree the finished product looks perfect for the space.
